Hi! I’m Sharon and I’m so glad you’ve reached out to College Connectors. I’ve spent over 25 years working in higher education, and I truly love helping students take the next steps after high school. My favorite part of the process is getting to know each student’s story – their strengths, their interests, and the qualities that make them stand out – and helping them bring those pieces together into an application that is authentic and compelling.
I’ve worked in admissions and student affairs at the university level, including in senior leadership roles, and bring a deep understanding of the full admissions landscape – from recruitment to enrollment strategy; I’m a bit of a strategy enthusiast (currently learning to play Mahjong!) and love thinking about how a student’s unique talents can be positioned in a way that helps them shine, while staying true to who they are.
Throughout my career, I’ve built and led innovative programs designed to better connect with students – from creating national outreach initiatives and webinar series to developing pipeline programs for first-generation and underrepresented students. I’ve also had the opportunity to teach and co-design a freshman seminar at the University of California, Berkeley, which deepened my appreciation for students’ curiosity, honesty, and excitement about their futures.
With so many changes happening in college admissions, I strive to stay on top of trends and help families understand them in a way that is clear and manageable. Families often share that they appreciate the energy, warmth, and insight I bring to my work, as well as my ability to quickly identify a student’s strengths and encourage them to build on them. I also love introducing students to schools they may not have initially considered but that end up being great fits.
Originally from Pennsylvania, home of the Penn State Nittany Lions, I’ve lived in San Francisco and Park City, Utah, and now call Rochester, Minnesota, home. When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me outdoors, hiking with my husband with our energetic rescue dog, Eevee, leading the way. I am also an enthusiastic Tennis Mom as our son plays for Mayo High School. Locally, I lead a book club and am an aspiring pickleballer.

My favorite working environment
I am old school! I prefer to sit at my office desk, with an iced tea placed neatly on a coaster and always within reach. A white board hangs by my desk to map out my to-dos and future plans. Admittedly, I will also turn on a diffuser – lavender scent to set a calm and tranquil atmosphere.
Favorite college resource
The Price You Pay for College by Ron Lieber. I love how practical and honest it is when it comes to one of the biggest decisions families face. It does a great job helping students and parents think about value, fit, and the financial side of college in a way that is approachable and manageable.
